History of the Mambo CMS and Mambo Foundation

Mambo's history is rich and complex. It is a mature FLOSS project that has weathered community disruptions, several forks, and achieved almost 8 million downloads (as at the end of December, 2007) and numerous awards along the way.

These two articles give a brief overview of the history of one of the world's most popular free, open source content management systems and of the not-for-profit Foundation that is now the caretaker of that history and facilitator of the forward momentum of this project.
