What is the Mambo Foundation? The Mambo Foundation is a non-profit corporation registered in Australia that serves as a supporting organisation for the Mambo Open Source Project. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide support and protection for the development of the Mambo software system. As such, the Foundation provides the infrastructure and processes for the cultivation of a robust open source community surrounding the Mambo project. We are modelled after similar ventures, such as the Eclipse Foundation and the GNOME Foundation. The Foundation was formed in August 2005 in response to developer and community demand for a not-for-profit, independent, community-controlled stewardship of Mambo. The Foundation is funded from annual membership dues from our members and from donations. It is governed by a Board of Directors that is elected annually by the membership. Directors receive no remuneration and the Foundation does not employ any staff at this point in time. |
